Constance is a chain of seven hotels in Mauritius, Maldives, Madagascar and Seychelles. Some houses are members of the Leading Hotels of the World, the flagship house is the Prince Maurice in Mauritius. The Constance Ephelia on Mahè, the main island of the Seychelles, is the largest Constance property and at the same time the largest resort in the Indian Ocean. It is located on the west coast of the island of Mahé and is already huge in terms of area: 120 hectares with two large beaches, with the north beach being the more beautiful and “Seychelles-typical” with the well-known granite rocks, which are particularly found on the island of La Digue.313 suites and villas await the guest and the question is, can such a large resort offer real five-star luxury? There are certain tradeoffs compared to a more expensive Four Seasons resort, for example, in terms of amenities, personal service, or things as simple as buggies.Except for the Hill Villas, Ephelia only has eight-seat “bus buggies” and stops. On the other hand, the resort offers a variety of activities as well as more choices when it comes to beaches and restaurants. The airy main restaurant offers typical buffet cuisine, i.e. pizza, pasta, meat, tandori, and culinary themes in the evenings.Adam & Eve serves Asian cuisine, Indonesian, Malay, Chinese a la Singapore.Mediterranean-inspired cuisine awaits guests at Helios, and Seselwa on the north beach has white furniture and colorful upholstery, where you can eat a la carte (Creole) all day long. The top restaurant is the often fully booked Cyann with Asian-French fusion cuisine and very good sushi.Top: the spa with 18 treatment rooms, Kneipp basins, heated pool.Yoga exercises are not free. All 313 suites and villas are very spacious, with even the cheapest suites being twice the size of most hotels. All rooms have air conditioning, tea and coffee makers, free mineral water. Most of the 47 Beach Villas do not face the sea and are usually not directly on the beach. The less expensive part of the complex is the south beach. The more expensive villas and suites can be found on the north beach, the most expensive houses, the Hill Villas, on the hill. The resort is well suited for families as well as for holidaymakers with sporty ambitions. There are PADI diving courses or a station, whether kayak or paddle boat, everything is there.Several swimming pools are spread over the complex, the villas have private pools.
There is Kids club for children from 4 – 11 (from 8 am to 8pm), daily activity progammes like turtle feeding, pool games, mangrove forest visits, peddle boats, etc. Nannies available during day and in the evening (15 to 20 US $, indicative)
In High Season the resort can be populated by up to 700 guests, so it can feel a bit crowded. The “better” restaurants are often sold out, reservation immediately after arrival is recommended. Beaches are public and get crowded on weekends.
