A 35 minutes seaplane flight from Malé away there is Kanifushi Island, 2 kilometers long, just 90 metres wide, with beautiful white sandbeaches, palm trees, surrounded by the beauty of the Indian Ocean. The resort that opened here in 2013 was the first of meanwhile eight resorts of the Atmosphere Group and offered an interesting concept: Five star hardware with some of the largest private pools in the Maldives combined with a special All Inclusive concept very similiar to many cruise ships. You get meals and beverages for free in some restaurants, in others you can make limited free bookings (like in the Sunset restaurant once every 7 seven days for free) and in the fancy gourmet restaurants you have to pay. In general: a beautiful place to stay with grand private pools if you stay at the beach and two versions of water villas, some with and others without pool. You will find a lot of well gardened trees and plants and great architecture, too. The spa is huge and a beauty but really expensive. Sunset and fishing cruises are offered complimentary though they offer no catering, no drinks, etc, like high end resorts would do. Buggies to call are reserved just for guests in the higher categories, other guests can use the complimentary bikes or the “bus buggies” stopping at certain places every fifteen minutes. Our favorite restaurant was “Just veg”, the first a la carte vegeterian restaurant in the Maldives, despite the fact that we are not vegetarians, but food, service and the scenery are great. And of course, its a great place for snorkeling or diving but because of its grand pools also perfect for vaccationers who do not want to meet a shark. They are harmless we were told.
