Four Seasons Hotel Florence

Florence

Italy

Everyone´s taste is different and it is difficult to compare seaside resorts like e.g. the Four Seasons Koh Samui (one of our favourites) with a city hotel, yet if we should pick the most beautiful Four Seasons property it could be the one in Florence. In a city full of cultural treasures the Four Seasons is set in a 11 hektar (27 acres) garden in a beautiful Renaissance palace and a 16th century convent. It is as good as it gets. The 116 rooms, among them 44 suites, do not disappoint: High Four Seasons standards blend in some cases with breathtaking historical settings, with antique furniture and paintings and splendid marble bathrooms. Apart from the main building there is the La Villa building that attracts guests with higher demands on privacy. The 37 rooms in La Villa come with butler service, there is an independent street entrance and an own breakfast room. The garden is one of the biggest in Florence. Foodwise the beautiful Magnolia restaurant serves Asian dishes while Il Palagio offers great Italian cuisine and a wine bar. In summer you can sit outside in the warm italian evenings often with live music in the garden (see our movie). The spa is wordclass and best in Florence. Sorry this time our review sounds like a commercial but to put it in short: We were impressed.

Endless wisdom in a nutshell

Best Time
April to June, September to October. But if you have a strong focus on art and the cultural treasures of Florence off season has its charms: Much less tourists and lower rates.
Best Rate
From 350 Euro in low season, from 750 Euro in high season

Indicative – subject to change.

Best Room
Our favourite: A premiere room 46 sqm, higher floor, garden view. Suites: Choose between “historical” or “normal” ones. There are several Presidential suites. Height of luxury: The Royal Suite and the Renaissance Suite.
Getting there
Airport transfers: From Bologna 90 minutes, 70 minutes, from Florence airport 25 minutes.
Best Excursion

Experience great wines in Tuscan landscapes that inspired Leonardo da Vinci. Small-group wine tasting tours are offered for 80 Euros. Or choose a first class winery and go there by car, eg. the Antinori winery where Chianti Classico is produced (just 20 km away from the heart of Florence).

Good for Children
A kids Club (in summer only), playgrounds in the garden, children`s and teens menues
Value for Money
Absolutely, but this is an expensive place.
Worst Thing
The hotel is away from the tourist hordes, yes, but some may see it as a real disadvantage that it is not “centralissima”. It takes 15 -30 minutes walking to the Duomo or the Uffizii, far after a tiring exploration of museums and shops. Taxis are are recomendable option.

Breathtaking Hotels.
