On the northcoast of Jamaica, 24 kilometers from Oracabessa, there is a guarded entrance door with no name but just a flag showing a palm tree and the word PRIVATE in red letters. Chris Blackwell`s Golden Eye resort receives it´s guests very Bond-like. This resort is very different to the usual All-inclusive-resorts on the island, and for many of it´s guests, namely Bond-fans, it is something like the Holy Gral. Ian Fleming had a bungalow built here in 1946 he called “Golden Eye” and he wrote all 14 Bond-books here. His villa is the flagship-villa of the resort which consists of 49 “rooms” including 26 beach huts, 8 one bedroom cottages and five two bedroom cottages. It is all set on 21 hektar (52 acres) land amidst an artificial lagoon. GoldenEye is something like a 4 to 5 star luxury property but full of hip details. The open air bathtubs are designed by star designer Renzo Piano, the spa is a romantic tree house at the lagoon. There is no gym but a lot of watersports possibilities. All in all a very recomendable Jamaicain resort different to most of its competitors and for Bond fans a must though the Fleming villa itself remains for a lucky few at a rate of 13.000 US-Dollars a night.
