Hotel Hochschober is an iconic lake spa resort in a mountain region in Austria which has become famous for two extraordinary “attractions”: First a high tech pool in the shape of a 10×25 meter long swimming frame on the surface of a very cold mountain lake. Within this frame swimmers can enjoy a luxurious watertemperature between 28 and 30 degrees all year long, while outside the frame the temperature in summer never surpasses 18 degrees Celsius, in winter the lake is covered with ice for six months. What´s so special is that there is no basin, no poolwalls or ground, the pool is totally open to the lake apart from a net against the fish. This mountain miracle was opened in 1995 and it was the first of its kind worldwide.
The hotel is surrounded by a nationalpark, so it is perfect for hiking and skiing in winter. It was founded in 1929 has focused on spa services (75 treatments).
The second attraction is a big, pagoda-like Chinese Tower, which is unique for a hotel in Europe. It was opened in 2005 and is used as a tea house and a spectacular yoga studio.
In general the 116 rooms and suites hotel offers a 5000 sqm spa (53.820 sqft) including an Oriental spa, indoor and outdoor pool, panoramic saunas, a gym and more. There is a huge library, a new spectacular modern building for seminars with awesome views, and more. When it comes to food there are several food options for dinners including vegan and vegetarian.
Room rates do not only include breakfast, a light lunch, and dinner, but also several other services like free bikes, guided walks, etc. The hotel counts 100 things that are included.
All in all value for money and two stunning attractions.
