Suvretta House

St. Moritz

Switzerland

St. Moritz, nestled in a great mountain scenery and offering 350 kilometers of skiing slopes, is Switzerland´s most expensive wintertourist-destination and a favourite to well-off-jet setters for a long time. There are a couple of five-star-hotels, the most famous one is Badrutz Palace, but if you seek privacy and a secluded, great location the legendary Suvretta House is the best choice. It is a mixture of a fairy tale castle and an alpine country club and especially for skiers over the top. The hotel boasts its own private ski-slope connecting to the other slopes, there is an own ski-school and a non-plus-ultra locker room. For non skiers the hotel offers a 25 meter indoor pool, an outdoor whirlpool which is nice in winter, too, and gourmets can choose between three restaurants, from fine dining with jackets (Grand Restaurant, 16 Gault Millau Points, to more casual options). Clientele ist mostly european and little „noveau riche“, service shows old school perfection and the atmosphere in general is great, especially in the evening at Anton`s Bar with live music every evening. For shoppers there is a complimentary shuttle to the Center of St. Moritz every 30 minutes.Member of the Leading Hotels of the World.

Endless wisdom in a nutshell

Best Time
Winter: December, January. Warm Season: May to September
Best Rate
Around 360 Euro in low season for a standard room mountain view.

Indicative – subject to change.

Best Room
Luxury-Value for money: Junior Suite Lake Balcony. Most luxurious: Tower Suite.
Getting there
If you have a private jet: Samedan is one of the highest airports in Europe, very small, 5 kilometers from St. Moritz. For the rest of us: Airport Zürich, then either 2,5 hours by car or 3 hours by recommendable train. You will be fetched at St. Moritz train station by a 1913 Ford van replica.
Best Excursion

Mountains and Stars: Go by train (Diavolazza station) and then by Gondola up to Diavolazza mountain station (3000 meters). A great place to see the Bernina-Range with the the 4000 meter Piz Bernina and the famous Piz Palü. You can also stay overnight and watch the stars. In winter you find Switzerland`s longest glacial downhill ski route.

Good for Children
Absolutely. There is a Kid´s club, too.
Value for Money
Suvretta House is expensive and therefore a biotop for well off travellers who expect impeccable service, old school luxury and gourmet food. They are usually not disappointed. Additonal USP: A private ski slope that gets you to the many slopes of St. Moritz which no other hotel can offer.
Worst Thing
Only 44 of 181 rooms have balconies. But there is a nice sun terrace for all where you can watch the scenery and the other guests.

Breathtaking Hotels.
