The Peninsula Bangkok

Bangkok, Chao Phraya River

Thailand

One of the top five luxuruy hotels in Bangkok and one of our favourites. Impeccable service and LARGE rooms. The standard rooms, called Deluxe King rooms, are sized 45 sqm. Chapeau!
Yes the Peninsula is a chain hotel and it has 370 rooms, but it has a great location at the Chao Phraya river at least if you like some distance from the hustle and bustle of this city that never sleeps. The Saphan Thaksin skytrain station is not far away but on the other side of the river and you have to take the free hotel ferry to get there. I personally like it as it reminds me of the city Bangkok used to be with a lot more water channels than nowadays. The rooms are as we mentioned already large and their style is classic urban with a strong touch of modern Thai design. Like it´s “neighbour”, the Mandarin Oriental, the Peninsula has a great spa and a 88 meter long outside pool.Or play Golf at the Thai Country Club. Foodwise the Thiptara serves excellent Thai food, the Mei Jiang caters for the Chinese taste, and the River Café is a great place to have a drink and watch the life on the Chao Phraya. Don´t miss a Thai cooking class (as shown in our movie) and on the last Saturday of each month there is a farmer´s market worth seeing. All in all a classy urban hotel fit for tourists as well as for business.

Indicative – subject to change.

Best Room
Favourite room category: Grand Deluxe King Room, 45 sqm, with river view. Favourite suite: The Terrace Suite in the 37th floor. 190 sqm, breathtaking views and value for money (around 1.650 Euro).
Getting there
Peninsula offers a VIP Airport Service including a fast track even with golf cart commuting (2.500 baht). Transfer: The hotel has a fleet of top-of-the line BMWs and also a Rolls Royce 2006. Ride takes 45 min to an hour.
Best Excursion

Ask the comcierge for a vinyard trip to Hua Hin, home of the Monsoon Valley wines. Bus-tours from around 100 Euros, helicopter ViP tours up to 9000 US-Dollars.

Good for Children

Value for Money
In Bangkok The Peninsula is quite pricey but compared to other cities the hotel really offers value for money, especially if you consider the size the rooms and the excellent service.
Worst Thing
The riverside hotel has a V-shape which means that you might see into other rooms. If you are into shopping and nightlife you are not in the eye of the tiger but need some time to get there.

Breathtaking Hotels.
