Looking for an extraordinary luxury boutique hotel that could easily make it into a Bond movie? Well, Tura Castle near Budapest would be a good choice  (indeed it starred in an Angelina Jolie movie) in this case though it has nothing to do with agent 007.  But it has with a worldfamous Empress – at least in a way. The magnificient castle completed in 1883 was commissioned by a Hungarian version of Jeff Bezos at the time, an immensely rich sugar and tobacco tycoon and banker named Baron Sigmund Schossberger and he chose the place because Hungarian aristocracy wanted to have a splendid countryhouse near Gödölo Castle, the place where Empress Elisabeth used to stay several months a year. In Schossberger´s case the countryhouse turned out as fairy tale castle inspired by the Rothschild family`s Halton House in Buckinghamshire. All with a touch of romance as Tura Castle was presented as an engagement gift.

So what can you expect if you book the place? First of all it is a very special experience, it offers privacy and luxury for a very limited number of guests. There are 19 rooms and suites only and the place is not cheap. For those visiting Budapest it is a great add on not only to relax but to live in a kind of fairy tale for a few nights. For fans of the Netflix-blockbuster “The Empress” it gives the chance to visit Empress Elisabeth`s favourite hideaway Gödölö Castle just 23 kilometers away. And for romantic weekend or longer the castle surrounded by it´s own park is perfect, too. With 19 rooms only the pool is never crowded, the sporty ones may be delighted to find a specially built house in the park that works as the gym plus two tennis courts.

Gourmet kitchen, a variety of 200 different wines and some of them at a mindboggling price will not dissappoint. The rooms are spacious and boast high ceilings. The furniture is high quality design ware and could serve as a movie set though not everyone may like the style. This is not looking like a Four Seasons Hotel but a high class indiviual style.

So all in all: a recommendation!
